1. CREATE A VISION BOARD
Creating a vision board can be a powerful visual motivator to move us toward our goals. A vision board is a collection of images and quotes that inspire you to achieve your goals. How you choose to create your vision board—digitally or on paper—is entirely up to you. Just make sure it’s somewhere visible.
2. DON’T BE AFRAID TO PAUSE AND THINK
If you aren’t sure what you want in the future or can’t decide if you are moving forward in the right direction, don’t be afraid to take time out. Stopping to pause and think critically can be beneficial. Give yourself permission to be OK with not knowing what comes next and work from there.
3. THINK FLEXIBLY
It’s great to have specific plans and targets, but because life can change quickly, we need our thinking to be flexible. When circumstances change, thinking in imaginative, non-logical ways can help us imagine creative solutions.
4. HAVE RATIONAL HOPE
Glimmers of hope in the future in dispiriting times can light the way forward. As humans, we can always have hope. Not the excessive hope that tells us there isn’t a problem, but a rational hope that accepts things are bad while looking for possibilities and guidance to find a way out of troubled times. This type of hope can help us stay grounded and grow at the same time.
5. GO AT YOUR OWN PACE AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN PLAN
We are each unique and it’s important that we move into the future at our own pace, following our own plan. Don’t be hurried along or dragged back by those around you. Find what works for you and trust your ability to navigate life.
