Description

Graham Hutchins describes, with some nostalgia, a variety of rail trips through New Zealand, on regular passenger trains, railcars, freight trains and work trains. Many services have now been axed, but he vividly recalls their delights, from the scenery outside to the often primitive conditions inside, along with memories of the people he meets. In this illustrated book, he conveys the sheer pleasure of rail travel in every corner of New Zealand, from the 1950s to the present day.

The author

Graham Hutchins, author of Great New Zealand Railway Journeys, has written many books on New Zealand railways and is the ideal writer for this book. He has also written many books on rugby and cricket, as well as the earlier Exisle title, Eight Days a Week. He lives in Hamilton.
