The author

Born in an Italian family and raised on a colonial African farm, Silvana de Toti Soissons is a gardener, cook, herb grower and natural skincare product maker at Farm Soap Co.
n her youth she suffered from a number of debilitating skin conditions from dermatitis to eczema, rashes, psoriasis and acne. During her university days she worked in Culpeper’s Herbalist shop in Bath and learned how to create specific, bespoke botanical solutions to provide healing remedies. So began a lifelong passion and research of the multi-tasking power of herbs.
For most of her career Silvana has worked in food and lifestyle retailing, latterly setting up the shops and toiletries range at The Newt In Somerset, as well as owning her own businesses in Bath (The Foodie Bugle – whose blog won The Guild Of Food Writers New Media Award in 2012) and in Dorset (Farm Soap Co.). She was the kitchen garden/food writer for The English Garden Magazine from 2012 to 2015 and is a regular contributor to The Simple Things, Cedar and Nonsuch magazines.
